What is a DOI?

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a unique alphanumeric string that is used to identify a certain source (typically online journal articles). When used in a reference, DOI is written as follows:

doi:xx.xxxxxxxx.  e.g. doi:10.1108/09596111211258900.

Note: 

DOI is to be in standard, unhyperlinked text and ending with a full stop.
