Informit

Citing and referencing sources

There are two ways to export citations from Informit: Copy citation and Download citation.

  1. Copy citations
    Select the records you wish to copy and then click the "Export Citations" button. 
    Then select the preferred referencing style (e.g. APA 7th) from the pull-down menu of Copy Citation to copy the records.
    Please check the referencing format and modify references for APA 7th or Holmesglen Harvard.
     
  2. Download citations
    Select the records you wish to copy and then click the "Export Citations" button. 
    Select the file format from the Download Citation to download the citation file (e.g. RIS).
    You can import the saved records into a citation management tool (e.g. EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager etc.).

Note: Please note that only one page of records can be exported at a time and up to 100 records can be selected per page when exporting records from Informit.​​​​​​export citations

Exporting citations from Informit into EndNote

To manage your export citation records from Informit, import your saved records to your favourite citation management tool such as EndNote.  Follow this user guide to download and install EndNote (EndNote 21 Desktop version or EndNote Online Web version).

Steps to import selected citation/s file into EndNote

Step 1: Search and Select -  Search on the Informit database, use the checkboxes to select the records you wish to export (up to 100 records per page) or select one record to export at one time, then click the Export Citations button.

Step 2: Export Citations & Output Format - Click the Export Citations button and select Download Citation from the tool menu. Select RIS format and click on the red Download button.

Step 3: Download File - The citation(s) in the format selected (e.g. filename informit(100).ris) will then be downloaded to your local computer.

Step 4: Import Records into EndNote -   Open EndNote (EndNote 21 or EndNote online), then double-click the RIS file.  A prompt will appear for you to select a destination (EndNote 21 or EndNote online). The selected citation/s file will then be imported into EndNote directly.

Note 

  • To check and edit your references, make sure you have all the necessary information in the correct field. Verify the references after importing citation records, as some may require additional details or editing in your EndNote library.
  • You will need to check the format and modify it for APA 7th or Holmesglen Harvard.
