What are databases?

Databases are a collection of professional articles and research which have been written in a subject area such as nursing. Databases are an excellent source of information for academic assignments because the information they contain is relevant, current, and articles are generally peer reviewed.

The difference between a database and the Internet.

All information has been checked for its accuracy and reliability by publishing groups and is peer reviewed.

The internet is not controlled by any one group so the information does not go through a review process

Library databases are updated frequently and include the date of publication

Websites may not indicate when page is updated or may not have been updated recently.

Library databases contain profession-specific articles, written by specialists.

Web sites often contain material from untrustworthy or commercial sources.
