Today we celebrate International Day of People with Disability. This day is all about promoting understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating a more inclusive community where everyone can thrive.

Inclusion benefits everyone—because when we design spaces, resources, and opportunities for all, we create a stronger, more connected learning environment.

Not all disabilities are visible—many are invisible, and they can affect people in ways we might not immediately see. The wordcloud below highlights just some of the diverse invisible disabilities that exist.

Today we acknowledge R U OK? Day. It's a reminder that a simple question can start a life-changing conversation.

R U OK? Day is Australia's annual day in September that encourages us all to check in with the people around us and promote mental health.

The campus libraries have created displays that support this message with resources on conversation skills, mindfulness, mental health, healthy living, and picture books about feelings and worries. These stories and tools encourage reflection, connection, and care. Take a moment to pause and explore.

This week, our libraries joined in celebrating Wear It Purple Day, a national day that supports LGBTQIA+ young people and promotes safe, inclusive environments where everyone feels they belong.

The Library hosted the Rainbow Walk - organised by the Holmesglen Pride Network - which featured colourful exhibits, fun activities and free food! Our staff came together in a sea of purple - jumpers, scarves, badges, and even accessories - to show their support. We also created vibrant library displays featuring books and resources in all shades of purple.

The aim of Wear It Purple Day is to send a clear message: You have the right to be proud of who you are. And we couldn't agree more. The library isn't just a place to study - it's a space where respect, inclusivity, and connection come first.
