Setting up a personal account

When you are signed in to ScienceDirect, you can:

  • Utilize search alerts, topic alerts, journal and book series alerts, and personalized recommendations
  • Create a list of your favourite journals and books
  • Set defaults and customize your personal ScienceDirect sessions

Basic search

1. Use keywords to search the database.

2. Use the filters in the left panel to refine your search.

3.  Alternatively use the advanced search to incorporate keywords and filters/limiters together.

Saving results and exporting citations to EndNote Web

1. Select the references you would like to export to EndNote by clicking on the tick box beside each reference.

2. Select export.

4. Select export  citation to RIS in the Export dialogue box.

5. Save the file onto your computer.

6. Go to EndNote Online.

7. Choose Collect, then Import References.

8. Browse for the RIS file you have downloaded.

9. Select Refman RIS as the Import option.

10. Choose a folder to store your references in EndNote.

11. Select Import.
