This week we are participating in IDPwD (International Day of People with Disability), a day which helps promote disability awareness.

The theme for 2024 IDPwD is Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.

This theme is exemplified by these three biographical children’s books available at both Moorabbin and Glen Waverley Libraries.

Nikki Hind is a successful blind fashion designer with her own label Blind Grit.

Craig Shanaghan own and runs the Blind Chef Cafe and Dessert Bar in Penrith (Sydney).

Matt Formston is a blind record-holding cycling Paralympian and a world champion surfer.

The Holmesglen library has a wealth of resources for education, raising awareness, and advocacy for inclusion and diversity. A selection of these resources can be found in the Disability Studies subject guide.
