Navigating O'Reilly - Search

O'Reilly is easy to navigate with the top-bar and search bar remaining visible to the user exploring the database.

To expand your search results; try using features from Topics or Start Learning

Your O'Reilly profile is accessible on the right side of the screen.  Here you can access your profile, your playlists, platform news and additional supports.

When performing a search, users are able to narrow down their results by topic, publisher, publication date and rating. From there, you can click through the tabs to see results for each content category: Books, Videos, Learning Paths and Playlists.

Search help

Looking for an exact title or phrase

Enter your search term in quotation marks to ensure you look for the exact phrase.

For example "Javascript" will bring the exact title or titles containing that exact phrase.

Looking for two or more phrases

Use AND, OR, NOT for example; NOT can be used to exclude certain terms, for example Java NOT Javascript.  OR can be used to broaden your search terms.

Or group terms together for example (Angular OR Regular) AND Framework

Searching by field name

To search by a field name, put in author followed by a colon ( : ) for example  author: "John Smith" other fields are publisher and title.

O'Reilly Answers

O'Reilly Answers is a tool that scans across all O'Reilly titles to deliver highly relevant content snippets to further explore.       

Expert Playlists, Recommended for you, and Case Studies

Experts Playlists, Recommended for you and case studies enable the user to deep-dive into any subject of interest and learn from experts from any field.

Case studies and recently added are further recommendations and includes the latest additions to O'Reilly databases, that keep you up to date with newly-released publications and content.

Navigating to this top bar and choosing Topics will give you access to a range of subjects. View all topics will give a further range of subjects and curated  resources.
